Facilities at Sandridge Stables
The comfortably heated barn at Sandridge Stables has 20 large, airy box stalls with rubber mats. The wide, spacious, fully cemented alleyway is easy to work in and offers plenty of room for multiple horses. A conveniently located locker room is available to clients and the newly painted and generously sized lockers are fitted with saddle racks and bridle hooks. Access to the arena is via an adjoining alleyway. The newly installed parking lot on the south side has a gravel road access to the back pasture and is instrumental in keeping our clients out of the mud. There is ample room for trailer parking, hay deliveries, vet and farrier trucks etc. Our protected southern hill top exposure ensures we are one of the first farms in the area to dry after rains or in the spring.
The wash rack has cross-ties and features both hot and cold running water. The feed room is clean, well organized and stocked with complete feed pellets, grains, beet pulp and a variety of supplements.
The insulated, lighted indoor arena is 80’ x 120’ and has a light panel that makes it bright and cheery all day long. An overhead door at each end of the arena in addition to the 4’ door on the south end gives good access for people and equipment. The excellent footing is dust controlled and well maintained and dressage letters and a whiteboard for lessons are mounted on the walls. The quality of construction and space between the buildings offers a quiet and relaxing environment in which to ride.
A clean and tidy lounge with heaters doubles as a viewing room with huge windows that look out into the arena. Parents, spouses or significant others can sit comfortably and read or enjoy a cup of coffee or hot chocolate while they wait for a lesson or ride to finish. During clinics, the windows open to allow spectators to hear the lessons.
Turn out consists of large, grass paddocks which house 2-5 horses each, 2 dirt paddocks for diet control, a huge back field for the pasture horses and a smaller grass field in the front.
The large, all-weather, outdoor arena is 120’ x 210’ and conveniently located on the east side of the indoor arena. Newly built in 2007, the laser levelled base and technically designed footing are designed to stand up to wet weather, so training can continue no matter what Mother Nature brings. Hacking distance to nearby bridle paths offer the pleasure of an afternoon’s trail ride or excellent conditioning workouts.
